You would pray to the shit they'd lay for you - desperate to belong, desperate to exist. Your true face is soon to be revealed - You know I can't wait for a moment like this. I saw how you'd cry out against them saying how you dislike and despise them But I can't tell those people the truth - I have to sit back and watch you mock the proof. This kills me to say I'm on my way... I know an easy way to the things I like, so I look at her - yeah, I look at her. A secret in the day another secret at night - yeah, I love her, I guess I do... People only see what they want to see - desperate to belong, desperate to exist They would pray to the shit you lay for them - it doesn't hurt to be honest. This kills me to say I'm on my way... I know a dream and a thing or two... I saw the messages from him to you... I read the signs while we rode the lines. Tell me something I don't know... Give me something I don't have anymore... Remove yourself, you don't belong here anymore.

Did you see the light surrounding when it turned to night - or was I dreaming? Do you suppose it was nothing of concern when my mind was screaming? There are people around me who hold me afloat but they never seem to notice when I’m drowning... Light a candle, light a spark - walking somewhere where it’s dark, Without all this you can’t stop something burning. Don’t look now, something’s coming... I don’t know how but something is coming... Well, the art is bad but the cash is short and I’m waiting for someone to take me away. The losers are winners but they’re killing the scene so I’m begging for someone to take me away. Could you be the right one, the right one for me - that someone who will pay me to save the day? Winning doesn’t come easy - yeah, sometimes it’s hard So I’m waiting for someone to take me away. Take me away... Take me away... Take me away. Ohhhh there were times when I was smart, bringing brightness to the dark Now all I see is curtains falling. Yeah, one of these days I’m gonna come back with a tighter jaw and a flexible back - until then, I have another calling. Don’t look now, something’s coming... I don’t know how but something is coming... Yeah, the art is bad but the cash is short and I’m waiting for someone to take me away. The losers are winners but they’re killing the scene so I’m begging for someone to take me away. Could you be the right one, the right one for me - that someone who will pay me to save the day? Yeah, winning doesn’t come easy - yeah, sometimes it’s hard So I’m waiting for someone to take me away. Yeah, the art is bad but the cash is short and I’m waiting for someone to take me away. Oh the losers are winners but they’re killing the scene so I’m begging for someone to take me away. Awww, could you be the right one, the right one for me - that someone who will pay me to save the day? Winning doesn’t come easy - yeah, sometimes it’s hard So I’m waiting for someone to take me away today. Take me away... Take me away... Take me away...

The Path 06:22
Everyone thinks they're in a band now - it makes me feel as if I'm doing time. I feel I need to get back some reality, feel I need to get back my security. People come and people go, legends stay behind. And who did you think I was when you saw my face? And who did you think I was when you saw my face, down the path? Down the path. People miss their job security - they’d be better off if they were doing time. Living off my dreams is a non-starter these day - I’m splitting at the seams cos it's getting harder to please, today. And who did you think I was when you saw my face? And who did you think I was when you saw my face? Who did you think I was when you saw my face? Who did you think I was when you saw my face, down the path? Down the path. Shhhhh I could’ve been your best friend... I could’ve been your brother... I could’ve been your best friend... I could’ve been your mother... Gotta get back to reality now... And I wanna go home... And who did you think I was when you saw my face? And who did you think I was when you saw my face? Yeah, who did you think I was when you saw my face? Who cares who I was when you saw my face, down the path? Down the path... Down the path... Down the path... Down the path. And I wanna go home. Yeah, I wanna go home.

You told me days were turning into weeks, A safety net was all I had to seek. I showed you things I know you should not see. I hear you breathe when you lay next to me, Turn off the lights and you sleep easily, As I woke up you were naked, crouched on the floor. I picked you up and turned you around to see, The light had gone from your eyes, you couldn't speak. I held you up and filled you up once more. As days go by you don't remember a single thing, You only flinch when the bad man starts to sing. I keep you safe - you don't need them no more. When there is a moonless sky, I hear your call... You tell me there's no reason why to fear them all... If they beat me down once more, you make feel so tall... When you need someone to hold, I hear your call.

Something changed when you out of it, something too good to be true - it could have been you. But nothing's ever quite what you thought it would be... They took your face and made a joke of it, They thought you were too good to be true - but it was you. And people don't know what they've got till they get shut of it. And as the feeling breaks you come out of this, on top of the world, But all the people look, not imaging the things you withheld. Out of the blue, you showed them something new - something even they couldn't touch, but was this too much? They'll raise the bar until you're out of luck - but all you want to do is make an honest buck. There's a chance in this world that you will… And as the feeling breaks you come out of this, on top of the world But all the people look, not imaging the things you withheld. And as the feeling breaks you come out of this, on top of the world But all the people look, not imaging the things you withheld. On top of the world. Top of the world.

You know I like it, yeah you know I like it - seeing how the light shines on your skin. You know I like it, yeah you know I like it - you noticed how I am when I let you in. Zipped up, buttoned down, held down together with glue - what you show in the day is not you. You know I like it, yeah you know I like it - let me hold you close, let me smell your love, yeah. And what would they see there if they peeked inside? Would it be such a crime to always wear that hide? You know I like it, yeah you know I like it - knowing that your breath is escaping you now. You know I like it, yeah you know I like it - seeing your eyes roll as the mist clouds up the glass. You put it all down then you found it in my face, You pulled on the keepsake that reflected your taste. You know I like it, yeah you know I like it and I put it all down in a monotone log, yeah. And what would they see there if they peeked inside? Would it be such a crime to always wear that hide?

Walking through a place and time, wondering if I’ll ever write that rhyme. Looking in through your window hoping that I’ll catch you before I go… It’s time for me to make some changes, stretching for further ranges - it’s true. She held a place for me ‘til Sunday knowing that for us I’ll one day pull through... And I’m taking things faster. And I’m becoming the master of my time with so many things too, none of them corrupted by you - I know I’m right. Did you see them counting fingers? Did you see them counting fingers? Did you see them counting fingers, now?

At what point did this beacon pass to you? Did you even think what you were going to do? Despite loving where we were, you were leaving on the next train. Sun burned through the clouds up there, yet I felt like it was gonna rain. I was taking my time to pull together my thoughts, As I came across ideas I put them down in my notes with some clarity - where you were meant to be. Bringing up the rear when you said the things you said - You didn't warm to the idea of someone living in our bed. It was meant to be... Oh, you were losing me... Follow the path you have to take, clouds float above the seas. Tear at the walls to pass the time while living beyond your means. You see the days lived by your friends - not thinking things are greener on the other side. They took a chance, jumped into the fire, You see the pictures and you want to hide. I was taking my time to pull together my thoughts, As I came across ideas I put them down in my notes with some clarity - where you were meant to be. Bringing up the rear when you said the things you said - You didn't warm to the idea of someone living in our bed. It was meant to be... Oh, you were losing me for good... I was taking my time to pull together my thoughts, As I came across ideas I put them down in my notes with some clarity - where you were meant to be. Bringing up the rear when you said the things you said - You didn't warm to the idea of someone living in our bed It was meant to be... Oh, you were meant to be with me... With me...

And through their eyes they'll see - you will be king... But due to complacency, you'll lose your thing. Take it gently as I show you how things will be. And I promise you you'll finally be free when we see what we will see. But as they lend a hand, you laugh in their face. It seems as though you're glad to be losing this race. Take it gently as I show you how things will be. And I promise you you'll finally be free when we see what we will see. Follow me today, I will show you what the people say - cos they don't know you. Will you be free? We will see what we will see.

Leper 04:12
Did you see the way they looked at me? Did you see the fists they shook at me? Nothing grows in their world anymore - I'm not in their world anymore... See me crumble, watch me fall, Laugh - you don't think this is real. I will battle, I will fall... I will rise then I will fall... See me play, I can't go on, But was something she said? See me play, I must go on, Because of something she said. See me play, I will go on, So I can hear what she said. These days, I am a leper to you, But the dream is far from gone. Once upon a time I was in a dream - then when I was high, I split at the seams. I tried to grow and show them all what it means to work at this thing called love. A smaller version of a man then appeared - gave me the guts to face the things that I feared. But then he ran away with my name and my gold, But now she holds me afloat... See me play, I can't go on, But was something she said? See me play, I must go on, Because of something she said. See me play, I will go on, So I can hear what she said. These days, I am a leper to you, But the dream is far from gone.

"Thank you for hearing - did you listen?" "To some of it..." "Thank you"

about

As I was waiting to see what was going on in the Luxury Stranger camp (in terms of moving closer to recording Darkness Falls Upon The Light), I decided to start recording some more new material in the vein of the Other Voices EP. However, things didn't go quite how I expected (hence the title maybe...?).

Instead of more instrumental works, I ended up coming out with some pretty decent 'commercial' sounding stuff mixed in with some more 'arty' type pieces.

With hindsight, I suppose this album really affected what happened with Darkness Falls Upon The Light and future Luxury Stranger material/workings... and I think it's a half-decent 'mid-step' between Other Voices and "Uh-huh..." :-)
